Warm-Up Sets

Add a ramp of warm-up sets to a lift in one tap, instead of typing each one in between sets.

Add warm-ups

On the mobile app, open the … menu on an exercise and choose Add warm-ups. It works in an active workout, and also while you are editing a workout preset, a new workout or a logged workout. The sets are built from the weight of the exercise's first working set, whether you typed it or it is the suggested weight shown in grey.

By default the ramp is:

SetWeightReps
140% of the working weight5
260%5
380%3

Weights are rounded to a loadable step in your unit. A step that would not climb above the one before it, or that reaches the working weight, is left out, so a lighter lift gets a shorter ramp.

Settings

Under Settings → Workout Settings → Warm-up calculator:

SettingWhat it does
Warm-up CalculatorTurns the Add warm-ups menu item on or off.
Warmup MethodThe ramp itself: each warm-up set is a percent of the working weight for a number of reps. Add set and Remove set change its length (up to eight sets), and Reset to default brings back the ramp above. Sets are kept in order from lightest to heaviest.
Plate roundingThe step warm-up weights round to on a bar (2.5 kg or 5 lb by default).
Dumbbell roundingThe step used for exercises that use dumbbells (1 kg or 2 lb by default).

How the sets behave

  • They use the Warm-up set type, so they stay out of volume, personal records and progression, the same as warm-ups you add by hand. They stay editable, and you log them like any other set.
  • Each has a 60-second rest.
  • Tapping Add warm-ups again replaces warm-ups you have not logged yet instead of adding more. Once you have logged a warm-up, the option is hidden for that exercise.
  • The option is not shown for cardio or timed exercises, or when the first working set has no weight yet.
  • In an active workout, a warm-up row's Prev value comes from your last warm-up of that exercise, and a working set's comes from your last working set.
